Although you will find lubricants that come in many different colors, textures and flavors there are four basic ingredients
that make up the different types, all differ in usage and feel. Not one is better than another, it depends on what you
personally prefer.
There are four common types of lubrications. Usually you will find that the lubrication will either be petroleum, oil,
water,

PETROLEUM-BASED LUBRICANT
These lubricants are the most commonly used. Made from, either petroleum jelly, mineral oil, or petrolatum. Some you may be
familiar with are Vaseline or baby oil. Because of the components present in these lubricants, you should never use them with
a condom, diaphragm or cervical caps. They will destroy the latex, reversing the effect of birth control. Petroleum-based

OIL-BASED LUBRICANT
Oil-based lubricants, like petroleum-based lubricants should not be used with any latex form of birth control and also stain
fabrics. However a positive aspect is that they are safe and non harmful to the vagina because they are usually made from a
natural oil like a vegetable, or nut oil. These lubricants are good for both male and female masturbation, vaginal
intercourse, and anal play.
WATER-BASED LUBRICANT
Water-based lubricants typically contain de-ionized water, glycerin, propylene glycol and non- toxic preservatives.
Water-based lubricants are great because they are safe for use with latex condoms, diaphragms cervical caps, or any other
birth control, and they do not stain fabrics. Although they may dry out a little quicker, with a bit of saliva or water you
can quickly obtain the slick, smooth consistency once again. Water-based lubes are a nice all around lubricant great for all,

SILICONE-BASED LUBRICANT
Silicone-based lubricants last longer than water-based lubricants but because they are silicone-based they cannot be used with
